City of Pomona Bike to Work Day
Here are hot off the press photos of Pomona, California 1st ever bike to work day sponsored by the city. given our limited resources, it was a huge success – 33 riders showed up at city hall alone – and we know more rode but went on to work at the school district HQ, cal poly and other places. school superintendent Richard martinez rode 25 miles from whittier, councilmember cristina Carrizosa walked from south Pomona, and councilmember ginna Escobar rode – on a bike for the 1st time in 15 years, from Phillips ranch. Coates bike shop had a vendor table set up – and Athens services (our street sweeper contract) provided food. Also included are our new city hall and library bike racks!
Overall – a very positive event that demonstrated the health, community and mobility possibilities of cycling!

Got Bikes!
The weather Sunday morning was super unpredictable in Los Angeles. With am showers it simply looked like a ice cream and red box sorta day. With the Lakers out of the NBA Playoff race-boredom began to take hold.
Then a funny thing happened. The sun came out! The invites started pouring in. But with so many options I simply decided to pack up the shorties and go for a simple Sunday drive. While on the freeway I saw this truck (see pic) packed with bikes. Then I thought we shoulda packed ours.

i think your bike is fresh - coming soon
Finally!! I feel like I'm prepping for a grand opening of sorts. With so many open files (personally and professionally) it feels good to sit-back,relax, and blog about something fun and relaxing.
This blog will promote the culture of bicycling and all things loosely related. Your input is welcomed as the blog grows. In addition, I challenge you to grow as well and explore alternatives to commuting, leisure, urban planning and quality of life.
